Stampin’ Up! Thoughtful Branches Ombre Card

Day 2 of Thoughtful Branches Challenge #31cards31days

Ombre Pink Hydrangea Card inspired by Helene de Breejen

5 ¼ X 8 1/2 “ piece of Whisper White Cardstock 100730, scored and folded into an A2 card.

4 X 5 ¼ Tip Top Taupe Designer series Paper (DSP) from In Colors Designer Series Paper (DSP) 12 X 12 Paper Pad 138432.

3 X 3” piece of Whisper White 100730    for the background behind the flower 100730

Stampin’ Dimensionals 104430.

Scrap of Mint Macaron cardstock 138339 (for the stem and leaves)

Scrap Whisper White Cardstock for the sentiment

1 ¼” Circle punch 119861

Blushing Bride Ink 131172

Flirty Flamingo Ink 141397

Melon Mambo Ink 126948

Scrap of Melon Mambo cardstock about 3 ½” X 3 ½ “

I use the big Flower Framelit Die (Beautiful Branches thinlits 143538) to cut the stem and leaves from  Mint Macaron Cardstock 138339 on the Big Shot 143263  The Big Shot Die Brush 140603 makes it a breeze to loosen the cardstock from the die!

TIP  The Mint Macaron cardstock 138339 paired with any of the Stampin’ Up! Pink colors works every time!

Stamp the Hydrangea from the Thoughtful Branches Bundle 144328 Blushing Bride ink (131172) on Blushing Bride cardstock 131198, then cut it on the Big Shot with the flower framelit die from the Beautiful Branches Thinlit set.

Cut a flower from Melon Mambo cardstock with the big flower thinlit die for the backing. The Melon Mambo flower behind the omber flower really makes the flower look more substantial.

I crumpled up both flower pieces in my hand, and then opened them back up. The cardstock will stand up to the crumpling. It gives the flowers some extra dimension, so they do not look flat.

After I open the flowers up, I roll them around a Stampin’ Write Marker, or a pen or pencil, to give it a slightly rounded shape.

To create the ombre effect, starting about ⅓ of the way down, sponge Flirty Flamingo ink on the blushing bride flower. I sponged it at an angle, not straight across, so it looks more natural. On the lower third of the flower, sponge on Melon Mambo ink.

I use the Stampin; Sponges 141337 to apply the ink. There are three round sponges in a package, and I cut each sponge into 8 wedges, so I get 24 sponge wedges for only $3.50!

TIP I cut my Stampin’ Dimensionals 104430 in half, or thirds so the white adhesive won’t show.

I carefully place the Stampin’ Dimensionals on the back of the Melon Mambo flower and use a little Snail Adhesive 104432 along the edges of the flower.

TIP Use the silicone Craft sheet 127853 under the detailed paper when applying the adhesive. The adhesive will stick to the cardstock and not all over what is beneath it!

Use dimensionals toward the center so that it stands up more than the edges. If you want it to stand out even more, try stacking two layers of dimensionals!

I adhered the ombre flower to the top of the Melon Mambo Flower, again using Dimensionals toward the center, and little bits of Snail Adhesive on the edges, so the center is “popped up”

You might need to look closely to see the Melon Mambo flower is slightly offset under the ombre flower.
I stamped the “For You” greeting on Whisper White cardstock in Mint Macaron ink, and punched it out with a 1 ¼” circle punch 119861. Use Stampin’ Dimensionals to adhere it to the card.

Day 1- Christmas Cardinal – I CASEd (Copy And Share Everything)this from Dena Rekow  .

When I get inspiration from another artist, sometimes it looks very much like the card, and sometimes it is just similar. I used Real Red cardstock 102482 for the base, Crumb Cake cardstock 120953 for the front panel (4″X5.25″). I stamped the trees in Tip Top Taupe ink, a 2015-2017 In Color 142234, the ground in Very Vanilla ink spot that came in the 2016 April Paper Pumpkin kit  and highlighted it with the Stampin’ Up! Chalk Marker 132133. II cut the bird from a scrap of Real Red Cardstock, and stamped the Merry Christmas sentiment from the Reason for the Season stamp set 139730 because I thought this font worked perfectly with the card. I stamped it in Real Red ink. It is hard to tell from the picture, but I cut a Stampin’ Dimensional in half to adhere the bird, and Used Stampin’ Dimensionals 104430 on the back of the Crumb Cake cardstock to add dimension to the card. Stampin’ Dimensionals are one of my most used products that Stampin’ Up! sells.
