Standard

January 4, 2017

The Spring 2017 Occasions and Sale-A-Bration 2017 Catalogs went live this morning and it must have created quite a commotion! I woke up to a message from our lovely CEO Sara Douglas on FB Live explaining that they had everyone hard at work fixing the online problem. No worries. I am sure things will be up and running soon. In the meantime…here is a glimpse of what is on my worktable this morning.

The Beautiful You Stamp Set (143637 clear block and 143004 wood block) is sure to be a huge favorite this Spring! I need to narrow down some of the ideas I’ve already pinned to my Pinterest board for the Beautiful You Stamp Set because I just don’t have enough hours in the day to make them all if I want to use my other Spring stamp sets. And I DO want to use them!!!

I have one card made from the Everyday Hero stamp set 143080. It will surely be another favorite.

Day 1- Christmas Cardinal – I CASEd (Copy And Share Everything)this from Dena Rekow  .

day1thoughfulbranches

When I get inspiration from another artist, sometimes it looks very much like the card, and sometimes it is just similar. I used Real Red cardstock 102482 for the base, Crumb Cake cardstock 120953 for the front panel (4″X5.25″). I stamped the trees in Tip Top Taupe ink, a 2015-2017 In Color 142234, the ground in Very Vanilla ink spot that came in the 2016 April Paper Pumpkin kit  and highlighted it with the Stampin’ Up! Chalk Marker 132133. II cut the bird from a scrap of Real Red Cardstock, and stamped the Merry Christmas sentiment from the Reason for the Season stamp set 139730 because I thought this font worked perfectly with the card. I stamped it in Real Red ink. It is hard to tell from the picture, but I cut a Stampin’ Dimensional in half to adhere the bird, and Used Stampin’ Dimensionals 104430 on the back of the Crumb Cake cardstock to add dimension to the card. Stampin’ Dimensionals are one of my most used products that Stampin’ Up! sells.

Black and Yellow Mosaic Madness

Image

Black and Yellow Mosaic Madness

I made this card using, the Stampin Up Mosaic Madness stamp set, basic black, Crushed Curry, and Whisper White paper and inks, the Quaternary Designer Series Paper, and mosaic punch. I used three layers of punching to create dimension. I embossed  a piece of Whisper White card stock using the mosaic embossing folder. Then I punch out sections, so that I could use that piece sandwiched between the black underneath and the stamped mosaic images above the sandwiched piece.i used Dimensionals to raise the black and yellow punched pieces up higher than normal. The acetate overlay across the top really finished off the card nicely.

Stampin Up! Punch art-crawling baby

Stampin Up! Punch art-crawling baby

I joined a Stampin Up summer swap and this is the punch art I came up with. While its not the only baby punch art that I’ve seen, it is the first one just like this. I used the bird punch for most of the body. I used the wings for arms and legs, and the hands and feet are cut from the little labels punch pack. I was especially happy with how well the little label punch, with just a snip here or there, made perfect little hands and feet. I found out that the cherries from the cupcake punch made perfect ears and  the bow. The eyes came from the candle flame of the cupcake punch. I used a little linen thread for the hair. I used circle punches and a scallop punch for the rest of the baby. I used Stampin Write markers to draw the face, and a dauber to add a little blush to the cheeks. I also inked around some of the edges.

The card on the left is one I found on Pinterest and I decided to CASE. I made the card on the right.  I used Stampin Up Basic Black and Very Vanilla Card stock, Pearl Basic Jewels(119247), Designer Series Paper from the Modern Medley set (126926), the Decorative Label Punch (120907), and the Scallop Trim Border Punch (118402). The flower stamp is from the Best of 25 Years-Flowers set (133342) and the sentiment is from the Lacy and Lovely stamp set (122887) clear mount. I still need to learn how to make professional looking photos of my work like the one on the left!

Butterfly Card Set

05_13_mixedbunchButterfly Card

We made a set of four cards. Stampin Up Mixed Bunch Stamp set (125537) (clear mount) and Blossom Punch (125603). Embossed with the Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder (117335). Whisper White card stock (100730) and Real Red card stock (102482). I colored the butterflies with Stampin Write Markers in three colors: Real Red, Blushing Bride, and Tangerine Tango. I made the antennae using linen thread (104199). My daughter Joni (also a stampin Up demo) showed me how to make these cards. I am not sure where she got the idea, so if you originally created this idea, please let me know and I will be happy to give you credit.

Stampin Up! Swallowtail Stamp

Image

I “CASEed” this card. I apologize to the original card creator because I can’t find her name now. For my first Stampin Up! workshop as a demonstrator, I offered two options: Island Indigo, or Chocolate Chip, on Facebook. I guess the Indigo looks better online, but the brown one looks amazing in person. The Island Indigo got the most votes, but when my friends got here, they all said they liked the brown one better. I already had the Island Indigo cut out, so  I used the Stampin Up! Swallowtail Stamp, Linen twine, and one of the Very Vanilla 5/8′ flowers that I dyed using a little water mixed with ink from the stamp pad. The flowers don’t look great in this picture because I had to scan them on my scanner and it smooshed the cards a little. The flowers come back to life when they aren’t in the scanner!

on the chocolate chip colored card, I layered First Edition Designer Series Paper sponged with chocolate chip ink, Very vanilla card stock-using the “blank” Papillon Potpourri butterfly stamp and the stamping off method to create the pattern. The top layer is the Swallowtail stamp with the “Wish Big” sentiment. I tied around the linen thread and dyed the Very Vanilla 5/8″ flower trim with chocolate chip ink and water. I wish I had made the top two layers a little smaller. I believe it would have enhanced the look of all three layers without taking away from the front layer.
