Baby medicine

Standard

My son’s mother-in-law came by with my son’s 4 children. They are all cute, of course. The baby is just delightful, though. She is 9 months old, and busyĀ crawlingĀ and trying to stand up. When she is sitting, she dances every time she hears music, including my singing. She is such a good baby and rarely cries unless she is tired. Today, when she got tired, I held her until she fellĀ asleep. It took about 45 seconds. Ā Then I held her while she slept. Ā Bliss. Ā I think I could give up blood pressure medicine if I could sit and hold a sleeping baby a couple of times a day.

Cody, 3 1/2 loves everything Transformer. Today he put his Optimus Prime pajama bottoms on his head and told me his name was “Silly Optimus.” I know that probably only family gets a kick out of things like that, but I want it written down.

I made my 1st three ATC’s (artist trading cards) yesterday and today. I will post them tomorrow and describe how I made them.

Where is the smell coming from?

Standard

Ever since Christmas day, my grown up children have been telling me there is something in my house that smells like cat pee. I can smell it sometimes. Sometimes there is a potent smell that I would say smells like a strong magic marker smell. A Magic Marker is like a big chisel tip Sharpie for you younger people. By the way, we do not have a cat. I’ve been sniffing all over the house to find the smell. Of course, my husband smells nothing! I’ve been using all of my Scentsy warmers to cover the smell, leaving all of the doors and windows open, and trying to figure out where the smell is coming from. It seems to move around the kitchen/ dining area. I’ve suspected the smell is coming from my plants. I ustĀ re-pottedĀ them in November, so I couldn’t figure out how they could smell. I’ve been begging my daughter to sniff out the source of the smell. Today, the source seemed to be near the plants again. My son-in-law said its the paper White plant. My son’s mother-in-law said its myĀ Paper WhiteĀ plant. Hmmm… That plant did start to bloom on CHRISTMAS DAY!!! If you get right up to the plant, it smells kind of nice, but back away a couple of feet, and it stinks. I’m going to wait until the plant is doneĀ blossomingĀ and then put it outside. I’ll just keep the Scentsy’s going and open the windows when its warm until then. At least it isn’t cat pee.

Stand up to Cancer button

Standard

Please click on the “Stand Up To cancer” button on the right side. When you click on the button, money gets donated to help cancer research. My husband has renal cell carcinoma (kidney cancer), my dad died of pancreatic cancer, my mom is a skin cancer and hairy cell leukemia survivor, and my close friend is a breast cancer survivor, so this cause strikes close to home for me. THX!

I went next door to my daughters to make cards. She is so talented! I will have to see if I can post some of her work. We had a nice time. I am sad that we didn’t get more time together over the winter break. She goes back to work at the school on Wednesday. When I got to my daughter’s my 3-year- old grandson was dressed in a costume. Three-year-olds are so funny. I did get a card made and I will post it soon. I signed up for some ZIA swaps and I am excited about the challenge. I hope I don’t spend too long planning the “perfect” “best ever” idea. I hate perfectionism. It really interferes with the creative process because it keeps me from finishing things.

Remember to copy

Standard

I forgot to make a copy of the picture I made for one of my daughters. I tried to make copies of everything I did this December, but I missed one. I am sure I can get my daughter to send me a picture of it from her cell phone. In the past I did not feel confident that my work was any good, so I did not take pictures or save copies. Now I am older and I can appreciate what I have done. Maybe my self-esteem is a little higher. For you crafters, make copies or take pictures of your work, no matter how prolific you are. One of my regrets is that I do not have a picture of the beautiful wedding dress I made for my daughter, Sally. It took months, and it was beautiful. It really did look like it was professionally done. I plan to start some drawing challenges this month. We will post the work online, so I will have to copy them.
